[Ming Pao Daily News] Zyetric, headquartered in Hong Kong and with its research and development department located in New Zealand, started its China office in the Foshan Hong Kong Macau Youth Entrepreneurship Center three months ago, and is mainly responsible for operations and marketing. Co-founder Patrick Lam says he chose Foshan because of its low cost. He visited offices in Shenzhen Nanshan and the Lok Ma Chau Loop, but they were all too expensive. “Foshan is an hour's drive away from Shenzhen, but the cost is much lower, and it's now free of charge. If he has enough money, he would like to set up branches in Beijing and Shanghai. “I'd like to go to Hangzhou, it's really the capital of KOLs.”

Patrick Lam said that the staff at the Foshan Incubation Center are “so helpful, they were the ones that recommended me to the hi-tech fair”. Participating in exhibitions is not just about “learning things” but also to increase exposure, and there are also TV stations asking whether they can use Zyetric’s products. “People who come to exhibitions are usually the target audience, so they are willing to listen to me, and we are able to demonstrate the characteristics of our product in just a few minutes.”
「Creativity is the way for small companies to breakthrough」
Many companies are now engaged in the AI industry. Patrick Lam said that the main competitors in the field of facial translation are all in the US, and even Mainland competitors are using US open source tools. Lam said that the world of AI is now a competition between China and the US, with the US leading the way in the underlying technology, especially in hardware, but China has more creativity in application, “Creativity is the way for small companies like ours to breakthrough. Without creativity, it's hard to get people to notice you.”
